In the first quarter of this year, both the quantity and value of China fruits export declined compared with the same period last year.
Statistics show that China total fruit exports from January to March this year were 834,000 tons, down 2% year-on-year, and the export value reached US$997 million (6.84 billion yuan), down 13% year-on-year. Southeast Asia is still the main region for China fruit export. In terms of export value ranking, the top five export destination countries are Thailand, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. The specific export value and export volume are as follows: Thailand was 156 million U.S. dollars, and the export volume was 92,000 tons, down 25% and 19% year-on-year; Vietnam was 145 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 9% year-on-year, and the export volume reached 103,000 tons. , A year-on-year decrease of 12%; India’s US$92 million and exports of 97,000 tons, an increase of 72% and 109% year-on-year; Indonesia’s US$88 million and exports of 82,000 tons, an increase of 40% and 53% year-on-year ; Malaysia was US$77 million and its export volume was 53,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 46% and 39% respectively. The total fruit exports of the above five countries accounted for 56% of the total exports.
Judging from the main export fruit varieties, apples, citruses, fresh pears, oranges,lemon and table grapes are China main fruit export varieties, with exports accounting for 82% of total fruit exports. The specific export value of the five types of fruits was 400 million U.S. dollars, 220 million U.S. dollars, 110 million U.S. dollars, 45 million U.S. dollars and 41 million U.S. dollars, which increased and decreased compared with the same period last year. Among them, apples and oranges were down 4% and 15% year-on-year, while fresh pears and grapes were up 10% and 7% year-on-year.
According to statistical data, the largest export volume of apples is seen as the export situation is increasing in volume and decreasing in price. From January to March this year, the export volume of fresh apples was 410,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9%; the export value was US$400 million (2.74 billion yuan), a year-on-year decrease of 4%; the average export price was US$975/ton (6,689 yuan/ton) , A year-on-year decrease of 12%. The top five export destination countries for China's apple exports are India, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and the Philippines. The export value of these five destination countries accounts for 55% of China total fresh apple exports. The main reason for the continued growth of China apple exports is the bumper harvest of apples across the country. The high quality and low price have led to the strong competitiveness of domestic apples in the international market, especially in Southeast Asia. Moreover, my country's emphasis on ecological planting and fruit quality has been further recognized by foreign buyers.
The export volume and value of China's another major export category of fresh pears have shown an increase. From January to March, my country’s fresh pear exports amounted to 125,000 tons, and the export value reached 120 million U.S. dollars, with an average price of 969 U.S. dollars per ton. The quantity and value increased by 18% and 7% year-on-year, and the average price dropped by 9% year-on-year. The top five export destinations are Indonesia (38,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 95%), Vietnam (21,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6%), Thailand (13,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5%), and Malaysia (11,000 tons) , A year-on-year decrease of 1%), the Russian Federation (0.76 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 19%). The top three provinces and cities in the export volume of fresh pears are: Hebei (47,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 63%), Shandong (24,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 7%) and Guangxi (16,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10%). The total fresh pear exports of the three provinces and cities account for 70% of the China's total fresh pear exports.
